Sphere is a F&B tech solutions company. Incorporated in 2014, Sphere is a collaborative effort between F&B veteran Tim Han and the technical wizardry of Chris Cai and Victor Heng.
Tired of having to deal with an end-to-end system that he had to change his workflows to fit into, Tim initially reached out to Chris to create a customised solution for him. He wanted to have a system where he could cherry pick system components that would work for his business’ particular work-flow and processes.
He soon came to realise that he, and everyone else in the industry, was faced with two options – an expensive but not comprehensive enough end-to-end system or individually optimal solutions that required hours labouring over administrative work.
Tim didn’t want to settle for either.
After many rounds of beer (aka brainstorming) with Chris, the idea of a platform which could integrate all the really great apps and software in the marketplace was born. Victor was brought in to power this vision of a platform where apps and POS could ‘speak’ to each other.
After hitting the market with the low-cost, high-spec Sphere POS in 2015, the Sphere Integration Platform became a reality in 2016. The platform lets F&B operators effectively customise a system that works just for them, saving manpower costs, increasing efficiency and sales channels.
Tim grew up in the kitchen of Palm Beach Seafood, Singapore’s oldest seafood brand and the visionary behind Sphere. His expertise and background is the edge that sets Sphere apart from other tech companies. As Sphere’s “legs on the ground”, he is all too familiar with the frustrations and hurdles that every restaurant and cafe owner faces.
Tim is the driver who keeps Sphere focused on providing relevant solutions that actually make life easier for those in the F&B industry. In his spare time, Tim is constantly thinking of new dining concepts and providing mentorship to those starting out in the F&B industry.

Chris is a super techie. He started building iOS apps for clients in university as a side business. He’s worked on several notable projects: the infamous Summon Auntie; a 3D modelling app for Haworth and the original Viddsee portal. Chris is the glue that keeps the the Sphere team together, ensuring the technical, product and sales teams all move towards Sphere’s vision.
Chris’ pet project is providing technical mentorship to young start-ups in Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom as the CTO of Start-Up Nation Ventures. As Chris believes sleep is for the weak, he uses his remaining spare time to challenge himself by designing and developing ad hoc apps for his friends’ mini-projects.

Victor’s first brush with data integration began at Holio, a telecommunications company, where he worked on their Open API platform. The platform allows any developer to initiate and interact with phone calls and SMSes, providing them with access to telecom services, and an easy way to design flexible workflows.
His interest in this project was piqued by the idea of designing a platform that provides the missing link that brings F&B businesses beyond their restaurant doors. Victor oversees technical innovation and product development at the Sphere office. He keeps his sanity in check by roller-blading and enjoying his own homebrewed beer.
